the sketchbook project.

The Sketchbook Project is one of the many wonderful things hosted by Art House Co-op, now based out of Brooklyn, NY.  On their fifth year of this increasingly successful project, the goal is to get artists to take these blank Moleskin sketchbooks and return them filled with their own work.  The books are then taken on tour to different locations across the country where people come to view the art.  Each sketchbook is given a barcode and kept in a library where viewers are given library cards and can check out the sketchbooks while the artists can keep track of every time their book is checked out.  I am so excited about this project that the moment I discovered it I rushed to buy my very own sketchbook online…but was abruptly set back by the many inspiring themes that each artist must choose from to base their sketchbook art off of.  Somebody save me from my decision making impairment and tell me which theme to do!

Yay! I was in one of the last sketchbook projects- I forget the theme- it was something like “everyone we know,” which made it very easy to work with :)
