Black Sheep and Prodigal Sons is run by Brooklyn-based designer Derrick Cruz. Its dark and alluring collection comprises items created using both vintage and handcrafted elements, including jewelry, ashtrays, scarves, and combs. Additionally, Mr. Cruz produces several limited edition pieces, including my favorite, the Dark Miracle Box. Made of ebonized wood, the box takes the shape of a book and can easily sit unassumingly on your bookshelf, protecting your most discrete items. Allusive appearance aside, the box holds its own secret — a hidden door crafted from 24k gilded gold. And while the first version (a limited edition of 50 boxes) sold out, you still have a chance to get yours hands on the Dark Miracle Box, orders are being taken for Version 2 as we speak.
