Did you know that in Switzerland spaghetti is harvested from a tree?

In 1957, while watching the BBC program Panorama, 8 million viewers witnessed the Swiss spaghetti harvest in awe, causing hundreds of people to phone the BBC and ask how they too could grow spaghetti on a tree.
And while it was April Fools’ day in 1950s England, the more plausible excuse for the public’s interest probably had more to do with cultural norms — spaghetti came in a tin can with tomato sauce — than utter gullibility. Nonetheless, the reporter instructed the viewing public to “place a sprig of spaghetti in a tin of tomato sauce and hope for the best.”
Happy April 1st.
